She is dark and strongA
Ungraceful and strangeB
She is no dove pure in beautyC
She is differentD
The big strong black birdE

She is unwelcome a sign of tragedyC
A hunter never a petF
Free yet flies aloneG
She is Black bird alone in the skiesH
-
Her song is different kind of melodyC
Not sweet like a robin'sI
Not powerful like an eagle'sJ
It is a loud shriek mistaken for annoyanceK
The tragic black bird in the sky creature of sorrowL
The beautiful black birdE

Poet's note: This poem was written for everyone to appreciate black women including myself . So often are we compared to others ideas of beauty how you are to dark or your hair is too kinky . How you are not as delicate as other races even I forget that being different is beauty.
