Of cause I know it was OsamaA
Who turned my life upside downB
It's not my fault that today I am terrorizedC
Turned inside out they search my soulD
One so open and bare couldn't hide a needleE
-
Daddy told me 'you can't be king wherever'F
But to your people and in your landG
That's how I fold my tail like a dog I evinceH
Accepting everything I can get with humilityI
The soldier in me manumitted in a strange landG
-
I watch your discussion on TelevisionJ
Never sparing me a day like I were a wizard in your packK
I take the left over jobs I know you don't want to do themL
You blame me for putting pressure on your infrastructureF
But I pay for everything for you to enjoy for freeI
I get no vacation no unemployment benefit can't complainM
All I want is a chance to put smiles on distraught facesN
-
I haven't seen a doctor in yearsO
Been stressed had no choice but ignoreF
Once had a flue bills I still had to payP
Sneezed my day at work shamefully it left me aloneQ
The time I try to rest my children cryF
They get louder in the ears of my headR
They cry daddy daddy we miss you please come homeS
So harder and harder I work hoping to get back with themL
In the next year but it never happensT
More and more of my people succumb to AIDSU
They leave widows then orphansT
With no one to take care forF
-
I promise my wife one more yearF
It will be four years maybe they grant me asylumV
Then you can join me to this the land of milk and honeyI
So I keep hope floating she has no choiceW
I swear my never ending love I leave her no wordsX
She is stuck with the man in her dreamsY
-
My son was nine when I left he turned into a teenagerF
My daughter was four months old sheI
Will learn to read and writeZ
I see a little girl run past my door every dayP
Oh she is so sweet I tell her motherF
Thank you she said nut I know she says to herselfA2
How old is she I asked onceB2
Will be four in June she saysC2
My heart stops a second mine will be four in June tooD2
But I can't say it I can't imagineJ
How that little pack of pure joy can bring sadness to meI
I watch her run away in the distanceB2
So my mind wanders that farF
-
I love news I love talk shows and they glue me to televisionJ
Now it's almost always about immigrantsE2
Illegal immigrants defines me in a nutshellF2
The only thing I have ever been that's illegalE
My heart aches not only for me but for thousandsG2
Most of my African brothers and sistersH2
Ridiculed by near disasters at home and by humanity abroadI2
I cry inside Oh Lord what have I done wrongJ2
My heart will never know true happinessK2
All I can do is create peace inside meI
For the crumbs that still make a differenceB2
In the life of my peopleE
I know that someday my hosts will ask me to leaveL2
To go back to my impoverished existenceB2
That I am so used to with the rest of my peopleE
I appreciate though that I have outlived my welcomeV
I can't blame them this is their homeS
They are entitled to their privacyI
