I was born in Rhodesia yes I was	A
And grew up there yes I did	B
Home now is Zimbabwe whose future I pray for	C
Whose mistakes I abhor but still home to me	D
Its name I adore its colors I adorn	E

Not in my most sorrowful moments do I envy Rhodesia	F
Yes it was a mistake of history	D
Which I wish I could soothe with my story	D
For the sake of those spirits that today roam	G
In the hope of someday being home	G

Sure Rhodesia I want to forget	H
Its colors I want to abrogate	I
The seeds of hope I wish I could sow	J
So again to wipe the brow	J
Of a people so full of love and toil	K

We all shared differently the pain and joy of Rhodesia	F
Yes that's what divided us on each end	L
I really don't miss going back where I was then	M
To my pain end I was so enslaved	N
I know deep down your soul has no wish to go	O
Back there to a joy bought of pain and tears	P

Where did go the hearts full of prayers	P
Prayers that got Mandela to a free world	Q
A better world for which he buried pain for love	R
Who would love the monster of apartheid not me	D

What a History we share as black and white	S
The ignorance and trickery of our fore bearers	T
That part we can't erase it's our story	D
But what we can do we all know	O
Write our part into History	D
And give the next generation no reason to fuss	U

That land we fought each other for it was all for the love	R
That piece of land lovely as ever been	V
Nicely tacked between the Zambezi and Limpopo	W
Cries for us that we leave the confines of Babylon	X
It is there enough for us to share without a fight	S
It's sunshine and cool breeze abundant for us to enjoy	Y

We were all heroes of our times and purposes	Z
That page we flipped past it's antiquated	A2
Now what we need is love and forgiveness	U
That we may be today's heroes for the future	B2
A future so bleak unless we act now	J
Forgive forget and go on	X
To a better world we will pride to leave	C2

We sweat and toil building strange lands	D2
Ours we watch and mourn	E
Our tears flow high enough to drown us	U
Such that beyond the ripples we can hardly see	D
The sun rising daily to a new dawn	E2
Let's catch the tide before it's too late	I
It's only love we need it was love that we needed	A2
