I was sitting for ages on a benchA
In a bus stationB
An able bodied manC
Approached me for a donationB
To buy his food for the dayD
-
I was hesitant to helpE
But conscience dictated otherwiseF
I gave him moneyG
Enough to buy a single donutH
And a cup of hot cocoaI
-
He got the cashJ
Without saying a wordK
My eyes followed himL
He went into a nearby convenient storeM
When he came outN
He got a beer and a pack of cigarettesO
-
I heaved a sad sighP
And looked at the groundQ
Then I saw a battalion of antsR
Like tiny dotsS
Marching in a clotheslineG
Each of them carrying a grain of riceT
-
Passersby stepped on themU
With their stilletosT
And tennis shoesT
But they rise as if nothing happenedV
And proceeded to workW
-
Oh how diligentX
And cleverY
Are the antsT
They prepare their foodZ
For droughtN
And floodA2
-
They got brainsT
Smaller than pinpointsT
Whereas the manG
Got a brainG
The size of a bowlB2
-
The man came again one dayD
But I rapid fireY
A piece of adviceT
To make useT
Of his rustedA2
Brain and bonesT
