The time that I first saw the lightA
Sun turned into darknessB
Of the billows of smokeC
From the warshipD
Lifeless bodies sprawledE
Tora Tora ToraF
A shout from one of the Axis PowersG
-
The moon did not shineH
Stars were hidden by the dusty cloudsI
Tremors shook the earthJ
Hunger thirst and nakednessI
Enveloped my childhoodK
-
In my youthL
As tender as the rose budM
I just hold on to dear lifeN
While my friends dancedO
Laughed out loudP
Turned nightsI
As their happiest livesI
-
Like an owlQ
I made nighttimeR
Into daytimeR
Used my handsI
Until they were tender and swollenS
Pounded my mindT
Until it was numbU
-
Same as the antsI
I worked during hot and rainy daysI
Hoarded all thingsI
I can holdV
Trash of othersI
I made themW
A mountain of fortuneS
Clothes that I have wornX
Were all hand me downY
Tears that came down my eyesI
I made themW
My daily table saltZ
-
Now stars are hiding no moreF
Crowned with laurels of my ownA2
But I will neverF
No neverF
Intend to sit on themW
Afraid to let them goB2
I continueC2
The cycle of my lifeN
Haggled over every last dimeR
To ensureF
That cruel daysI
Will not take controlD2
