Village Don Juan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC BBDDEE FFGGHH IIJJKK LLKKMM

Lord I'm grey my face is runA
But by old Harry I've had my funA
And all about I seem to seeB
Lads and lassies that look like meB
Ice blue eyes on every handC
Handsomest youngsters in the landC
-
Old Stud Horse they say of meB
But back of my beard I laugh with gleeB
Far and wide have I sown my seedD
Yet by the gods I've improved the breedD
From byre and stable to joiner's benchE
From landlord's daughter to serving wenchE
-
Ice blue eyes and blade straight noseF
Stamp of my virile youth are thoseF
Now you'll see them on every sideG
Proof of my powers far and wideG
Even the parson' handsome scampH
And the Doctor's daughter have my stampH
-
Many a matron cocks an eyeI
Of secret knowledge as I pass byI
As for the hubbies what they don't knowJ
Will never hurt them so let them goJ
The offspring most they seem to prizeK
Have blade straight noses and ice blue byesK
-
Yet oh I have a haunting dreadL
Brother and sister lust the bedL
The Parson's and the Doctor's lassK
Yestreen in the moon I saw them passK
The thought of them wed is like a knifeM
Brother and sister man and wifeM
