Tourist Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFBBB HIHIGJD'Twas in a village in Lorraine | A |
Whose name I quite forget | B |
I found I needfully was fain | A |
To buy a serviette | B |
I sought a shop wherein they sell | C |
Such articles as these | D |
And told a smiling mademoiselle | C |
'I want a towel please ' | E |
- | |
'Of kinds ' said she 'I've only two ' | - |
And took the bundles down | F |
And one was coloured azure blue | G |
And one was khaki brown | F |
With doubt I scratched my hoary head | B |
The quality was right | B |
The size too yet I gravely said | B |
'Too bad you haven't white ' | - |
- | |
That pretty maid had sunny hair | H |
Her gaze was free from guile | I |
And while I hesitated there | H |
She watched me with a smile | I |
Then as I went to take the blue | G |
She said 'Non' meaning no | J |
'Ze khaki ones are best M'sieu | D |
Ze dirts zey do not show ' | - |
