Tom Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCDED DFDFGHGH IBIBIBIB

That Tom was poor was sure a pityA
Such guts for learning had the ladB
He took to Greek like babe to tittyB
And he was mathematic madB
I loved to prime him up with knowledgeC
A brighter lad I never knewD
I dreamed that he would go to collegeE
And there be honoured tooD
-
But no His Dad said Son I need youD
To keep the kettle on the boilF
No longer can I clothe and feed youD
Buy study books and midnight oilF
I carry on as best I'm ableG
A humble tailor as you knowH
And you must squat cross legged a tableG
And learn to snip and sewH
-
And that is what poor Tom is doingI
He bravely makes the best of itB
But as he fits you he is knowingI
That he himself is a misfitB
And thinks as he fulfils his callingI
With patient heart yet deep distasteB
Like clippings from his shears down fallingI
He too is WasteB
