The Woman At The Gate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFG DHDHAA IJIJKL

Where is your little boy to dayA
I asked her at the gateB
I used to see him at his playA
And often I would waitB
He was so beautiful so brightC
I watched him with delightC
-
He had a tiny motor carD
And it was painted redE
He wound it up it ran so farD
So merrily it spedE
I think he told me that it wasF
A gift from Santa ClausG
-
The woman said It ran so farD
He followed it with joyH
Then came a real motor carD
He sought to save his toyH
My little boy is far awayA
Where angel children playA
-
His father perished in the WarI
Now I am all aloneJ
And death is all I'm longing forI
So said with face of stoneJ
That woman Curse their crazy carsK
And cruel warsL
