The Sniper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CADAA EFGFF HIHJI AIAIKK

Because back home in TennesseeA
I was a champeen shotB
They made a sniper outa meA
An' ninety krouts I gotB
I wish to Christ I'd notB
-
Athinkin' o' them blasted livesC
It's kindo' blue I beA
Them lads no doubt had kids an' wivesD
An' happy home like meA
Them stiffs I still can seeA
-
Aye ninety men or more my handE
Has hustled down to hellF
They've loaded me with medals andG
They tell me I done wellF
A hero for a spellF
-
But Heaven help me to forgetH
Them fellow men I've slainI
The bubbling flow of blood I've letH
I'll never kill againJ
To swat flies gives me painI
-
Just let me dream when we will seeA
And end of soldierin'I
When flags of famous victoryA
Will be amoulderin'I
An' lethal steel an' battle blastK
Be nightmares of the pastK
