The Mountain And The Lake Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD BEBEFGHG IJIJIJ

I know a mountain thrilling to the starsA
Peerless and pure and pinnacled with snowB
Glimpsing the golden dawn o'er coral barsA
Flaunting the vanisht sunset's garnet glowB
Proudly patrician passionless sereneC
Soaring in silvered steeps where cloud surfs breakD
Virgin and vestal Oh a very QueenC
And at her feet there dreams a quiet lakeD
-
My lake adores my mountain well I knowB
For I have watched it from its dawn dream startE
Stilling its mirror to her splendid snowB
Framing her image in its trembling heartE
Glassing her graciousness of greening woodF
Kissing her throne melodiously madG
Thrilling responsive to her every moodH
Gloomed with her sadness gay when she is gladG
-
My lake has dreamed and loved since time was bornI
Will love and dream till time shall cease to beJ
Gazing to Her in worship half forlornI
Who looks towards the stars and will not seeJ
My peerless mountain splendid in her scornI
Alas poor little lake Alas poor meJ
