They are strong and brave and true | F |
But they're always tired of the things that are | E |

What a deep mark I would make | H |
So they chop and change and each fresh move | G |
Is only a fresh mistake | H |

And each forgets as he strips and runs | I |
With a brilliant fitful pace | J |
It's the steady quiet plodding ones | I |
Who win in the lifelong race | J |
And each forgets that his youth has fled | K |
Forgets that his prime is past | L |
Till he stands one day with a hope that's dead | K |
In the glare of the truth at last | L |

He has failed he has failed he has missed his chance | M |
He has just done things by half | N |
Life's been a jolly good joke on him | O |
And now is the time to laugh | N |
Ha ha He is one of the Legion Lost | P |
He was never meant to win | A |
He's a rolling stone and it's bred in the bone | Q |
He's a man who won't fit in | A |
