The Macaronis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFEF GHGHIFJF KLKLLMLM

Italian people peaceful areA
Let it be to their creditB
They mostly fail to win a warC
Oh they themselves have said itD
Allergic we to lethal gunsE
And military mightF
We love our homes and little onesE
And loath to fightF
-
But Teutons are a warrior raceG
Who seek the sword to rattleH
And in the sun they claim a placeG
Even at price of battleH
The prestige of a uniformI
Is sacred in their sightF
They deem that they are soldiers bornJ
And might is rightF
-
And so I love Italians thoughK
Their fighting powers are pettyL
My heart with sympathy doth goK
To eaters of spaghettiL
And if the choice were left to meL
I know beyond a doubtM
A hundred times I'd rather beL
A Dago than a KrautM
