The Host Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDFGG HIHIJJ KLKLMN

I never could imagine GodA
I don't suppose I ever willB
Beside His altar fire I nodA
With senile drowsiness but stillB
In old of age as sight grows dimC
I have a sense of HimC
-
For when I count my sum of daysD
I find so many sweet and goodE
My mind is full of peace and praiseD
My heart aglow with gratitudeF
For my long living in the sunG
I want to thank someoneG
-
Someone who has been kind to meH
Some power within if not on highI
Who shaped my gentle destinyH
And led me pleasant pastures byI
Who taught me whether gay or graveJ
To love the life He gaveJ
-
A Host of charity and cheerK
Within a Tavern warm and brightL
Who smiles and bids me have no fearK
As forth I fare into the nightL
From whom I beg no Heav'n but blessM
For earthly happinessN
