With sullen smiles with hidden griefs | E |

But they waylayed me on the street | H |
And tore the hat from off my head | G |
And trampled it beneath their feet | H |

I sought the Church my grief was wild | I |
And by my mother's grave I sat | J |
I've never cried for clay cold child | I |
As I wept for that ruined hat | J |
