The Defeated Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI JKJK

Think not because you raiseA
A gleaming swordB
That you will win to praiseA
Before the LordB
-
And though men hail you greatC
Unto the skiesD
Deem not 'twill ope' the gateC
Of ParadiseE
-
Though you have gold and gearF
And fame and powerG
What odds when you draw nearF
The Judgement HourG
-
But if in bloody dustH
Yet unafraidI
You battle for the JustH
With broken bladeI
-
Then will the Lord look downJ
With eyes of loveK
And you shall win a CrownJ
All price aboveK
