The Centenarian Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACADAD EFEFFAF GHGHIJI

Great Grandfather was ninety nineA
And so it was our one dreadB
That though his health was superfineA
He'd fail to make the hundredC
Though he was not a rolling stoneA
No moss he seemed to gatherD
A patriarch of brawn and boneA
Was Great GrandfatherD
-
He should have been senile and frailE
Instead of hale and heartyF
But no he loved a mug of aleE
A boisterous old partyF
'As frisky as a cold ' said heF
'A man's allotted spanA
I've lived but now I plan to beF
A Centenarian '-
-
Then one night when I called on himG
Oh what a change I sawH
His head was bowed his eye was dimG
Down fallen was his jawH
Said he 'Leave me to die I prayI
I'm no more bloody useJ
For in my mouth I found todayI
A tooth that's loose '-
