Teddy Bear Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFGHIHI JKJKILIL MNMNDIEI

O Teddy Bear with your head awryA
And your comical twisted smileB
You rub your eyes do you wonder whyA
You've slept such a long long whileB
As you lay so still in the cupboard dimC
And you heard on the roof the rainD
Were you thinking what has become of himC
And when will he play againE
-
Do you sometimes long for a chubby handF
And a voice so sweetly shrillG
O Teddy Bear don't you understandF
Why the house is awf'ly stillG
You sit with your muzzle propped on your pawsH
And your whimsical face askewI
Don't wait don't wait for your friend becauseH
He's sleeping and dreaming tooI
-
Aye sleeping long You remember howJ
He stabbed our hearts with his criesK
And oh the dew of pain on his browJ
And the deeps of pain in his eyesK
And Teddy Bear you remember tooI
As he sighed and sank to his restL
How all of a sudden he smiled to youI
And he clutched you close to his breastL
-
I'll put you away little Teddy BearM
In the cupboard far from my sightN
Maybe he'll come and he'll kiss you thereM
A wee white ghost in the nightN
But me I'll live with my love and painD
A weariful lifetime throughI
And my Hope will I see him again againE
Ah God If I only knewI
