Stowaway Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDD EFEFGHGH IJKJLJLJ MHMHNMNO PFPFNQNB

We'd left the sea gulls long behindA
And we were almost in mid oceanB
The sky was soft and blue and kindA
The boat had scarcely any motionB
Except that songfully it spedC
And sheared the foam swift as an arrowD
There fluttered down a city sparrowD
-
I stared with something of surpriseE
The apparition mocked my seemingF
In fact I gently rubbed my eyesE
And wondered if I were not dreamingF
It must I mused at MontrealG
Have hopped abroad somewhere to nestleH
And failed to hear the warning callG
For visitors to leave he vesselH
-
Well anyway a bird it wasI
With winky eyes and wings a twitterJ
Unwise to migration LawsK
From Canada a hardy flitterJ
And as it hopped about the deckL
So happily I wondered whetherJ
It wasn't scramming from QuebecL
For London's mild and moister weatherJ
-
My rover's heart went out to itM
That vain vivacious little devilH
And as I watched it hop and flitM
I hoped it would not come to evilH
It planned above the plangent seaN
A foolish flight I'd never risk itM
And then it circled back to meN
And from my palm picked crumbs of biscuitO
-
Well voyages come to an endP
WE make them with that understandingF
One morn I missed my feathered friendP
And hope it made a happy landingF
Oh may she ever happy beN
It 'twas a she with eggs to sit onQ
And rest on our side of he seaN
A brave brown cheery chirping BritonB
