Self-made Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFHIHI JBJBIKIK LBMBNONO

A hundred people I employedA
But when they struck for higher payB
I was so damnably annoyedA
I told them they could stay awayB
I simply shut my business downC
I closed my doors and locked them outD
And now you'll find all round the townC
A lot of idle men aboutD
-
Of course I know it is my lossE
And I their point of view can seeF
But I must show them I'm the bossG
And any raise must come from MEF
But when they claim it as a rightH
And send their Union leaders roundI
Why then by God I'm out to fightH
Or burn my workshop to the groundI
-
I've risen from the ranks myselfJ
By brawn and brain I've made my wayB
Had I bet beered and blown my pelfJ
I would have been as poor as theyB
Had I wed young to thrift's unheedI
I might have been a toiler nowK
With rent to pay and kids to feedI
And bloody sweat upon my browK
-
Ah there's the point I might have beenL
I might have been as peeved as theyB
And know what misery can meanM
And ask like them a raise of payB
I see myself The telephoneN
Had I not been so bloody wiseO
A poor old rich man all aloneN
Hullo Strike's off I grant the riseO
