Rhyme Scheme: AAA BCC DDD EFF GGG HHH AAASo crystal clear it is to me | A |
That when I die I cease to be | A |
All else seems sheer stupidity | A |
- | |
All promises of Paradise | B |
Are wishful thinking preacher's lies | C |
Dogmatic dust flung in our eyes | C |
- | |
Yea life's immortal swift it flows | D |
Alike in reptile and in rose | D |
But as it comes so too it goes | D |
- | |
Dead roses will not bloom again | E |
The lifeless lizard writhes in vain | F |
Cups shattered will not hold champagne | F |
- | |
Our breath is brief and being so | G |
Let's make our heaven here below | G |
And lavish kindness as we go | G |
- | |
For when dour Death shall close the door | H |
There will be darkness evermore | H |
So let us kneel in prayer before | H |
- | |
Each day and let our duty be | A |
To fight that mankind may be free | A |
There is our Immortality | A |
