Reptiles And Roses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAA BCC DDD EFF GGG HHH AAA

So crystal clear it is to meA
That when I die I cease to beA
All else seems sheer stupidityA
-
All promises of ParadiseB
Are wishful thinking preacher's liesC
Dogmatic dust flung in our eyesC
-
Yea life's immortal swift it flowsD
Alike in reptile and in roseD
But as it comes so too it goesD
-
Dead roses will not bloom againE
The lifeless lizard writhes in vainF
Cups shattered will not hold champagneF
-
Our breath is brief and being soG
Let's make our heaven here belowG
And lavish kindness as we goG
-
For when dour Death shall close the doorH
There will be darkness evermoreH
So let us kneel in prayer beforeH
-
Each day and let our duty beA
To fight that mankind may be freeA
There is our ImmortalityA
