My White Mouse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ

At dusk I saw a craintive mouseA
That sneaked and stole around the houseA
At first I took it for a ghostB
For it was snowy white almostB
-
I've seen them in captivityC
But this white mouse was wild and freeC
And every eye with stealth it stoleD
And foraged in the garbage holeD
-
I told the folks yet wondered whyE
No one could see the mouse but IE
For it was really truly whiteF
And not just silvered by moonlightF
-
And then there came a big black catG
And thought I said Get out of thatG
It stared at me with savage eyesH
As big and yellow as moonriseH
-
And often times I wonder whetherI
They didn't just go off togetherI
In the bright moonlight paw in pawJ
For never more my mouse I sawJ
