My Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBCB DEDBBDBD FBFBGHIH| I made a picture all my heart | A |
| I put in it and all I knew | B |
| Of canvas cunning and of Art | A |
| Of tenderness and passion true | B |
| A worshipped Master came to see | C |
| Oh he was kind and gentle too | B |
| He studied it with sympathy | C |
| And sensed what I had sought to do | B |
| - | |
| Said he quot Your paint is fresh and fair | D |
| And I can praise it without cease | E |
| And yet a touch just here and there | D |
| Would make of it a masterpiece quot | B |
| He took the brush from out my hand | B |
| He touched it here he touched it there | D |
| So well he seemed to understand | B |
| And momently it grew more fair | D |
| - | |
| Oh there was nothing I could say | F |
| And there was nothing I could do | B |
| I thanked him and he went his way | F |
| And then I slashed my picture through | B |
| For though his brush with soft caress | G |
| Had made my daub a thing divine | H |
| Oh God I wept with bitterness | I |
| It wasn't mine it wasn't mine | H |
