My Consolation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAAAC DEDEFGFG HAHAIJHJ

'Nay I don't need a hearing aid'A
I told Mama in lawB
'For if I had I'd be afraidA
Of your eternal jawB
Although at me you often shoutA
I'm undisturbedA
To tell the truth I can't make outA
A single word 'C
-
And it's the same with others whoD
Attempt to gab at meE
I listen to their point of viewD
And solemnly agreeE
To story stale and silly jokeF
Stone deaf's my earG
Each day a dozen stupid folkF
I fail to hearG
-
So silence that should be my griefH
Is my escape and shieldA
From spiteful speech and base reliefH
My aural sense is sealedA
And in my cosy cot of peaceI
I close the doorJ
Praising the gods for rich reliefH
From fool and boreJ
