My Ancestors Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCD EFEFEF GHGHGH IJIJKLKL

A barefoot boy I went to schoolA
To save a cobbler's feeB
For though the porridge pot was fullC
A frugal folk were weB
We baked our bannocks spun our woolC
And counted each bawbeeD
-
We reft our living from the soilE
And I was shieling bredF
My father's hands were warped with toilE
And crooked with grace he saidF
My mother made the kettle boilE
As spinning wheel she fedF
-
My granny smoked a pipe of clayG
And yammered of her youthH
The hairs upon her chin were greyG
She had a single toothH
Her mutch was grimed I grieve to sayG
For I would speak the truthH
-
You of your ancestry may boastI
Well here I brag of mineJ
For if there is a heaven hostI
I hope they'll be in lineJ
My dad with collie at his heelK
In plaid of tartan stripeL
My mammie with her spinning wheelK
My granny with her pipeL
