Murderers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JIJIKK

He was my best and oldest friendA
I'd known him all my lifeB
And yet I'm sure towards the endA
He knew I loved his wifeB
And wonder wonder if it's whyC
He came so dreadfully to dieC
-
He drove his car at racing speedD
And crashed into a treeE
How could he have so little heedD
A skillful driver heE
I think he must have found that dayF
Some love letters that went astrayF
-
I looked into the woman's eyesG
And there I saw she knewH
There was no shadow of surmiseG
For her himself he slewH
That he might leave her free to wedI
The quot me quot she worshipped in his steadI
-
She whispered as she bade me goJ
quot I think he found us out quotI
And in her face the hate and woeJ
Was his revenge no doubtI
Life cannot link us though glad greenK
His grave he stands betweenK
