Mistinguette Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFGHIHI JKHLHL

He was my one and only loveA
My world was mirror for his faceB
We were as close as hand and gloveA
Until he came with smiling graceB
To say 'We must be wise my dearC
You are the idol of todayD
But I too plan a proud careerC
Let's kiss and go our way 'E
-
And then he soared to sudden fameF
And even queens applauded himG
A halo glorified his nameF
That dust of time may never dimG
And me I toured golden BrazilH
Yet as gay mobs were cheering meI
The sun seemed black the brilliance chillH
My triumph mockeryI
-
Today if I should say 'Hello '-
He'd say 'How are you ' I'd say 'Fine '-
Yet never shall he see the woeJ
The wanness of my frail declineK
I love him now and always willH
Oh may his star be long to setL
My Maurice is an idol stillH
What wreaths for MistinguetteL
