| I reckon he was grizzly bred | B |
| For when he reared up in the air | A |

| And I would swear by Gosh he was | E |
| The world's most mighty malemute | D |

| But oh the grub that dog could eat | D |
| Yet he was never belly tight | D |
| It almost broke me buying meat | D |
| To satisfy his appetite | D |
| Then came a change I wondered at | D |
| Returning when the dawn was dim | F |
| He seemed mysteriously fat | D |
| And scorned the bones I'd saved for him | F |

| Wherein there laboured Nurse Louise | H |
| Who was to me a little pal | I |
| I planned in every way to please | H |
| As books and sweets for her I bought | D |
| My mug she seemed to kindo' like | J |
| But Mike he loved her quite a lot | D |
| And she was very fond of Mike | J |

| Strolling with her as moonlight gleamed | D |
| I saw a strand of cotton trail | K |
| From Mike the which unseemly seemed | D |
| To have its source behind his tail | K |
| I trod on it with chagrin grim | F |
| And with a kick his absence urged | D |
| But as he ran from out of him | F |
| Such yards and yards of lint emerged | D |

| And then on me the truth did dawn | L |
| Beyond the shadow of a doubt | D |
| That poor dam dog was gorged upon | M |
| The poultices threw out | D |
| So love my dog love me I thought | D |
| And seized the moment to propose | N |
| Mike's dead but in our garden lot | D |
| He's manure for a big dog rose | N |
