Kail Yard Bard Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDCD EAFAEA GHIHIH

A very humble pen I plyA
Beneath a cottage thatchB
And in the sunny hours I tryA
To till my cabbage patchB
And in the gloaming glad am IA
To lift the latchB
-
I do not plot to pile up pelfC
With jowl and belly fatD
To simple song I give myselfC
And seek no gain at thatD
Content if milk is on the shelfC
To feed the catD
-
I joy that haleness I possessE
Though fame has passed me byA
And see such gold of happinessF
A shining in the skyA
I wonder who has won successE
Proud men or IA
-
I do not grieve that I am poorG
And by the world unknownH
Free as the wind serene and sureI
In peace I live aloneH
'Tis better to be bard obscureI
Than King on ThroneH
