Innocence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFGHEHE IJIKALAL

The height of wisdom seems to meA
That of a childB
So let my ageing vision beA
Serene and mildB
The depth of folly I averC
Is to fish deepD
In that dark pool of science whereE
Truth demons sleepD
-
Let me not be a bearded sageF
Seeing too clearG
In issues of the atom ageF
Man doom I fearG
So long as living's outward showH
To me is fairE
What lies behind I do not knowH
And do not careE
-
Of woeful fears of future illI
That earth folk hauntJ
Let me as radiant meadow rillI
Be ignorantK
Aye though a sorry dunce I beA
In learning's schoolL
Lord marvellously make of meA
Your Happy FoolL
