| Said I 'Maybe a Palace stood | C |

| 'Mid mosque and minaret | C |
| The proud pavilion of a King | E |
| Was luminously set | C |

| Upon a garnet throne | A |
| He ruled and now all trace of him | F |
| Is just this stone | A |

| Ah well I've done with wandering | E |
| But from a blousy bar | G |
| I see with drunk imagining | E |
| A Palace like a star | G |
| I build it up from one grey stone | A |
| With gardens hanging high | H |
| And dream Long long ere Babylon | I |
| It's King was I | H |
