Golden Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFGDDDD DHDHDIDI

Another day of toil and strifeA
Another page so whiteB
Within that fateful Log of LifeA
That I and all must writeB
Another page without a stainC
To make of as I mayD
That done I shall not see againE
Until the Judgment DayD
-
Ah could I could I backward turnF
The pages of that BookG
How often would I blench and burnF
How often loathe to lookG
What pages would be meanly scrolledD
What smeared as if with mudD
A few maybe might gleam like goldD
Some scarlet seem as bloodD
-
O Record grave God guide my handD
And make me worthy beH
Since what I write to day shall standD
To all eternityH
Aye teach me Lord of Life I prayD
As I salute the sunI
To bear myself that every dayD
May be a Golden OneI
