Epitaph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF

No matter how he toil and striveA
The fate of every man aliveA
With luck will be to lie aloneB
His empty name cut in a stoneB
-
Grim time the fairest fame will floutC
But though his name be blotted outC
And he forgotten with his peersD
His stone may wear a year of yearsD
-
No matter how we sow and reapE
The end of all is endless sleepE
From strife a merciful releaseF
From life the crowning prize of PeaceF
