Each Day A Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HEHG

I count each day a little lifeA
With birth and death completeB
I cloister it from care and strifeA
And keep it sane and sweetB
-
With eager eyes I greet the mornC
Exultant as a boyD
Knowing that I am newly bornC
To wonder and to joyD
-
And when the sunset splendours waneE
And ripe for rest am IF
Knowing that I will live againG
Exultantly I dieF
-
O that all Life were but a DayH
Sunny and sweet and saneE
And that at Even I might sayH
I sleep to wake againG
