| Till he was drunker than all hell | B |
| And then they peddled him the bull | A |
| About a claim they had to sell | B |
| A thousand bucks they made him pay | C |
| Knowing that he had nothing more | D |
| And when he begged it back next day | C |
| And wept they kicked him from the door | D |

| They reckoned they were mighty slick | E |
| Them two tinhorns from Idaho | F |
| That poor dumb Swede could swing a pick | E |
| but that was all he'd ever know | F |
| So sitting in a poker game | G |
| They lost the price for which they sold | H |
| To that bonehead a poor dud claim | G |
| That didn't have a speck of gold | H |

| Of these bright boys from Idaho | F |
| They made a sucker of that Swede | I |
| And laughed to see the poor boob go | F |
| And work like nigger on his ground | J |
| Bucked by the courage of despair | K |
| Till lo A rich pay streak he found | J |
| That made him twice a millionaire | K |

| So two smart Alecs mighty sick | E |
| Begged jobs at fifteen bucks a day | C |
| Then said the Swede Give each a pick | E |
| And let them sweat to make their pay | C |
| And though he don't know what it means | L |
| Folks call that Swede magnanimous | M |
| But picking nuggets big as beans | L |
| you oughta' hear them fellers cuss | M |
