Dark Truth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC BDBDEE FGFHBBBB

Birds have no consciousness of doomA
Yon thrush that serenades me dailyB
From scented snow of hawthorn bloomA
Would not trill out his glee so gailyB
Could he foretell his songful breathC
Would sadly soon be stilled in deathC
-
Yon lambs that frolic on the leaB
And incarnate the joy of lifeD
Would scarce disport them could they seeB
The shadow of the butcher's knifeD
Oh Nature with your loving ruthE
You spare them knowledge of Dark TruthE
-
To sad humanity aloneF
Creation's triumph ultimateG
The grimness of the grave is knownF
The dusty destiny awaitH
Oh bird and beast with joy elanceB
Effulgently your ingoranceB
Oh man previsioning the hearseB
With fortitude accept your curseB
