Courage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCCB DDD EEEB FFFGHHHG IBBJKKKJ LLLHMMM

Today I opened wide my eyesA
And stared with wonder and surpriseA
To see beneath November skiesA
An apple blossom peerB
Upon a branch as bleak as nightC
It gleamed exultant on my sightC
A fairy beacon burning brightC
Of hope and cheerB
-
'Alas ' said I 'poor foolish thingD
Have you mistaken this for SpringD
Behold the thrush has taken wingD
And Winter's near '-
Serene it seemed to lift its headE
'The Winter's wrath I do not dreadE
Because I am ' it proudly saidE
'A PioneerB
-
'Some apple blossom must be firstF
With beauty's urgency to burstF
Into a world for joy athirstF
And so I dareG
And I shall see what none shall seeH
December skies gloom over meH
And mock them with my April gleeH
And fearless fareG
-
'And I shall hear what none shall hearI
The hardy robin piping clearB
The Storm King gallop dark and drearB
Across the skyJ
And I shall know what none shall knowK
The silent kisses of the snowK
The Christmas candles' silver glowK
Before I dieJ
-
'Then from your frost gemmed window paneL
One morning you will look in vainL
My smile of delicate disdainL
No more to seeH
But though I pass before my timeM
And perish in the grale and grimeM
Maybe you'll have a little rhymeM
To spare for me '-
