Contrast Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGHGIJIJ KLKLMNMN OGOGPGPG

Carry your suitcase Sir he saidA
I turned away to hide a grinB
For he was shorter by a headA
Than I and pitiably thinB
I could have made a pair of himC
So with my load I stoutly leggedD
But his tenacity was grimC
Please let me help you sir he beggedE
-
I could not shake the fellow offF
So let him shoulder my valiseG
He tottered with a racking coughH
That did not give him any peaceG
He lagged so limply in my wakeI
I made him put the burden downJ
Saying A taxi I will takeI
And grimly gave him half a crownJ
-
Poor devil I am sure he hadK
Not eaten anything that dayL
His eyes so hungrily were gladK
Although his lips were ashen greyL
He vanished in the callous crowdM
Then when he was no more aroundN
I lugged my bag and thought aloudM
I wish I'd given him a poundN
-
And strangely I felt sore ashamedO
As if somehow I had lost faceG
And not only myself I blamedO
But all the blasted human raceG
And all this life of battle whereP
The poor are beaten to their kneesG
And while the weak the burdens bearP
Fat fools like me can stroll at easeG
