Class-mates Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEFGG HIHIJJ KLKMNONO

Bob Briggs went in for GovernmentA
And helps to run the StateB
Some day they say he'll representC
His party in debateB
But with punk politics his jobD
I do not envy BobD
-
Jim Jones went in for writing booksE
Best sellers were his aimF
He's ten years younger than he looksE
And licks the heels of FameF
Though shop girls make a fuss of himG
I do not envy JimG
-
Joe Giles went in for grabbing goldH
And grovelled in the dirtI
He too looks prematurely oldH
His gastric ulcers hurtI
Although he has a heap of doughJ
I do not envy JoeJ
-
I've neither fame nor power nor wealthK
I fish and hunt for foodL
But I have heaps of rugged healthK
And life seems mighty goodM
So when my class mates come to spendN
A week end in my shackO
With lake and wood at journey's endN
They envy JackO
