Bookshelf Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEDFF BGFGHH IIJJKEKC BLBLMM NGNGFF

I like to think that when I fallA
A rain drop in Death's shoreless seaB
This shelf of books along the wallA
Beside my bed will mourn for meB
-
Regard it Aye my taste is queerC
Some of my bards you may disdainD
Shakespeare and Milton are not hereE
Shelly and Keats you seek in vainD
Wordsworth Tennyson Browning tooF
Remarkably are not in viewF
-
Who are they Omar first you seeB
With Vine and Rose and NightingaleG
Voicing my pet philosphyF
Of Wine and Song Then Reading GaolG
Where Fate a gruesome pattern makesH
And dawn light shudders as it wakesH
-
The Ancient Mariner is nextI
With eerie and terrific textI
The Burns with pawky human touchJ
Poor devil I have loved him muchJ
And now a gay quartette beholdK
Bret Harte and Eugene Field are hereE
And Henly chanting brave and boldK
And Chesteron in praise of BeerC
-
Lastly come valiant Singers threeB
To whom this strident Day belongsL
Kipling to whom I bow the kneeB
Masefield with rugged sailor songsL
And to my lyric troupe I addM
With greatful heart The Shropshire LadM
-
Behold my minstrels just elevenN
For half my life I've loved them wellG
And though I have no hope of HeavenN
And more than Highland fear of HellG
May I be damned if on this shelfF
ye find a rhyme I made myselfF
