Agnostic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEGHIHI ADADJKJK

The chapel looms against the skyA
Above the vine clad shelvesB
And as the peasants pass it byA
They cross themselvesB
But I alone I grieve to stateC
Lack sentiment divineD
A citified sophisticateC
I make no signD
-
Their gesture may a habit beE
Mechanic in a senseF
Yet somehow it awakes in meE
Strange reverenceG
And though from ignorance it stemH
Somehow I deeply grieveI
And wish down in my heart like themH
I could believeI
-
Suppose a cottage I should buyA
And little patch of vineD
With pure and humble spirit IA
Might make the SignD
Aye though I godless way I goJ
And sceptic in my trendK
A faith in something I don't knowJ
Might save me in the endK
