Love is tender emotion and fiery;
Who needed an offering for his heart.
Seeing sin made God like the raging sea,
That must shipwreck sin and break it apart.
But none who will part from the evil ship,
Deserve the wrath that must fall upon it.
We were slaves forced to evil by the whip,
And beasts of burden serving without wit.
Yet Love who knows all things, was blinded still,
By his own pure, infinite emotion;
Which could not exercise his Spirit's will,
Till Jesus calmed this furious ocean; –
Showing sin as 'white' in himself, he dies,
'That God might be just' when us he descries.
