Portrait Of My Father As A Young Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGFHIJK LJ

In the eyes dream The brow as if it could feelA
something far off Around the lips a greatB
freshness seductive though there is no smileC
Under the rows of ornamental braidD
on the slim Imperial officer's uniformE
the saber's basket hilt Both hands stayF
folded upon it going nowhere calmG
and now almost invisible as if theyF
were the first to grasp the distance and dissolveH
And all the rest so curtained within itselfI
so cloudy that I cannot understandJ
this figure as it fades into the backgroundK
-
Oh quickly disappearing photographL
in my more slowly disappearing handJ
