The Republican Genius Of Europe Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCD EFGGH CIJJI GCCGFFC

Emporers and kings in vain you striveA
Your torments to concealB
The age is come that shakes your thronesC
Tramples in dust despotic crownsC
And bids the sceptre failD
-
In western worlds the flame beganE
From thence to France it flewF
Through Europe now it takes its wayG
Beams an insufferable dayG
And lays all tyrants lowH
-
Genius fo France pursue the chaceC
Till Reason's laws restoreI
Man to be Man in every climeJ
That Being active great sublimeJ
Debas'd in dust no moreI
-
In dreadful pomp he takes his wayG
O'er ruin'd crowns demolish'd thronesC
Pale tyrants shrink before his blazeC
Round him terrific lightenings playG
With eyes of fire he looks then throughF
Crushes the vile despotic crewF
And Pride in ruin laysC
