Boys Like Us Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF BGHIIJI ABAAK ALBKABMBBNBBB

Do not tell boys like usA
'summer is hot and winter is cold'B
when we're used to wearingC
the same singlet we woreD
last three summer to welcomeE
the winter cold into our roofless homeF
-
You're not a climateB
is the sentence we were nurtured withG
Do not expect boys like us to changeH
to the tones of seasonal weatherI
when all we have is ourI
yellow white armless uniformJ
and navy blue short knickerI
-
Do not tell boys like usA
not to eat from street side wasteB
'cus its poisonousA
when we've already found solaceA
in eating the prominent beings leftoversK
-
Do not tell boys like usA
education is the key to successL
When all we do is stare atB
how they caress the future leadersK
into the early morning school busA
which cacophonous honks couldB
wake a dead manM
with their plumpy bags of chocolateB
while we sit beside our cracked windowB
whispering a silent wish in our heartsN
to one day feel the fresh breeze tooB
and have a view of our dirty streetB
from the school bus window sideB
