Do not tell boys like us
'summer is hot and winter is cold'
when we're used to wearing
the same singlet we wore
last three summer to welcome
the winter cold into our roofless home .
"You're not a climate"
is the sentence we were nurtured with.
Do not expect boys like us to change
to the tones of seasonal weather
when all we have is our
yellow_white armless uniform
and navy blue short knicker.
Do not tell boys like us
" not to eat from street side waste
'cus its poisonous "
when we've already found solace
in eating the prominent beings leftovers.
Do not tell boys like us
" education is the key to success "
When all we do is stare at
how they caress the future leaders
into the early morning school bus
which cacophonous honks could
wake a dead man
with their plumpy bags of chocolate
while we sit beside our cracked window
whispering a silent wish in our hearts
to one day feel the fresh breeze too
and have a view of our dirty street
from the school bus window side.
