The Cross Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIDD

Let me tell you a storyA
A one story that remains a gloryA
Of all ages it's the one story of the crossB
The cross of sin and the one who took the lossB
-
As the sky darkened the world grew stillC
Upon that hill a voice surrendered to the chillC
Father forgive them was the whisper of graceD
Embracing all in that sacred somber spaceD
-
Noon became a little curious as shadows fellE
And the land trembled as if in an ancient spellE
At Calvary love and pain intertwinedF
In that moment the depth of humanity definedF
-
The middle one bearing the weight of all sinG
A symbol of hope forlorn and akinG
Above his head the inscription held truthH
The king of the Jews a declaration uncouthH
-
Somewhere in Golgotha he gave me lifeI
Amidst the anguish amidst the strifeI
His sacrifice echoed through time and spaceD
Granting solace in that hallowed placeD
