The Pulse of My HomelandA
-
-
I was born in a land of gentle windsB
Innocence wrapped around me like sunlightC
Now there is no room for tearsD
Because Arakan has become a dream I can no longer touchE
-
Arakan you are the pulse of my heartF
A place where my blood was shed in silenceG
Each night I see you in my dreamsH
But waking up without you leaves me emptyI
-
I look at the sky once endless and freeI
And remember the laughter that resonated with friendsJ
Now I sit in silenceG
Surrounded by memories of those I ve lostK
Left behind in the diaspora that scattered us allL
-
Still the moments we shared refuse to diminishM
Like whispers in the windN
They remind me of the life we hadO
A life that now feels worlds awayP
-
My heart aches when I see others laughQ
Living a life I can no longer claimR
I feel the sting of lost freedomS
As children struggle for educationT
Held back from the future that should be theirsD
-
Tears rise when I see the flag of my motherlandA
Waving in a sky I cannot return toU
I long to stand on the soil I once knewU
To breathe in the scent of rain soaked earthV
And hold the pieces of my past in my handsW
-
If I could close my eyes foreverX
And find myself back in those momentsY
Oh Arakan how I miss youU
You are more than a memoryI
You are the essence of who I amZ
Until my spirit is freeI
My heart will always belong to youU
