Endurance in Every StepA
-
-
This path I walk is not mineB
but I still walk itC
each step heavy with memoriesD
I can t leave behindE
It s the only place I return toF
the only place that feels closeG
to something like homeH
-
The sun falls on the earth on the grassI
on the water and for a momentJ
I let myself feel seenK
like I matter even when I don t belongL
-
Here I ve cried wept into the dirtM
spilled my soul in silenceN
no one to judgeO
no one to hearP
except for the ground beneath meQ
-
The grass the water the sunR
they said nothingS
but they listenedT
patiently and kindlyQ
-
One dayU
the grass whispered backV
Look at meQ
They walk over me crush meQ
but still I riseW
I bend I breakX
but I always standY
So why not youF
-
The water spokeZ
its voice is soft but sureA2
They use meQ
dirty meQ
but I keep flowingS
I carry away the dirtM
always moving forwardB2
never looking backV
-
And then the sunR
its warmth touching my skinC2
said with a quiet smileD2
I shine for allE2
never asking for anything in returnF2
I burn to give lightG2
without complaintH2
without prideI2
You too can shineB
with what little you have leftJ2
-
In their silenceN
I found a lessonR
To endureA2
to be thankfulK2
to live without bitternessL2
for what has been takenR
but with gratitudeM2
for what remainsN2
