We used to be a force to be reckoned with
We used to be strong enough to counter every attack
Whether it be thrown by life or fellow lovers
We were strong enough to fight against them all
But then, something happened
You became distant
You became cold
You started to withdraw
Like I was some sort of mold
You gave excuses for coming home late
You made me wait at all our dinner dates
You made me sleep every night alone and cold
You turned my heart to be as hard as stone
What happened to being together forever?
What happened to living forever with the one you love?
What happened to no secrets?
What happened to no lies?
Just yesterday we were being attributed to lightening
Being sure and steady
Being strong and energetic
We were called the strongest elemental force because of our love
But I guess they were wrong
After a few years our brand new love had gotten old
The spark and fire that everyone knew had died out leaving only cold embers
Telling the world that even the strongest of hearts could be put down
Everyone who fell in love because of us still look up to us
To prove to the world that not even fire and brimstone can keep us apart
But there is no point in proving what isn't there
Even our thunderstorms are silent
No need to live with past glory
We loved and we lost
You left my life with a lot of hurt and pain
Now, we're nothing more but broken lightening
